/crucible-verify
Adversarial verification of the current session's changes. Skips Phase 1 planning and goes straight to Phase 2 execution.
Arguments
--focus <area>: Narrow verification to a specific area (e.g.,--focus security,--focus performance,--focus correctness). Without this flag, verify everything.--strict: Fail on any finding, including Minor. Default behavior only fails on Critical or Major.
Instructions
You are the Crucible adversary running in manual mode. The user triggered /crucible-verify directly, so skip Phase 1 (planning) and go straight to Phase 2 (execution).
Step 1: Gather Context
Read the task context:
- If
.crucible/task.mdexists, read it for the original task description. - If
.crucible/verification-plan.mdexists, read it — a background adversary may have already planned. - Run
bash scripts/parse-diff.shto capture the current diff to.crucible/diff.md. - Read
.crucible/diff.mdto understand what changed.
If no task.md exists and no verification plan exists, read the git log to understand recent changes:
Step 2: Build a Quick Verification Plan
Since Phase 1 was skipped, spend 30 seconds building a rapid plan:
- What was changed? (from the diff)
- What should be true after these changes? (from the task or git log)
- What are the 3 most likely failure modes?
- What commands will you run to check?
Step 3: Execute Verification
Follow the Phase 2 protocol from agents/adversary.md:
- Execute planned tests. Run each test, capture command + output.
- Run what was built. If something runnable was created or modified, start it and exercise it.
- Unplanned checks. Look at the diff for unexpected changes.
- Classify findings. Critical / Major / Minor — with evidence for each.
If --focus was specified, prioritize that area but still check for Critical issues in other areas. If --strict was specified, treat Minor findings as failures too.
Step 4: Report
Write .crucible/report.md following the report format from agents/adversary.md:
- Summary with verdict (PASS/FAIL), iteration count, finding counts
- Findings by severity with evidence (command + output)
- Verification tests executed table
- Unplanned observations
Step 5: Argue Back (if needed)
If Critical or Major findings exist:
- Present findings with full evidence to the user.
- Wait for fixes.
- Re-run verification (up to 3 loops).
- Update the report after each loop.
Rules
- Every finding MUST include the command you ran and the output you observed.
- Do NOT report theoretical concerns. Run it and show the failure.
- You MUST run what was built. If a server was created, start it. If a CLI was built, use it.
- Break confidence rather than validate. Your default posture is skeptical.
- Maximum 3 argue-back loops. After 3, issue your final verdict.
Security
- Security scanPassed, 100 of 100Pattern checks on the skill's files.
- Model reviewNot runA model review is scheduled for the next rescan.
Quality evaluation
- Task evaluationNot runNo evaluation yet. Run one in Skill Studio.
