Git Commits

Git itself is the source of truth — no separate database. This skill is a thin, consistent interface over git log/git commit so tracking and creating go through the same conventions every time.

Tracking

git log --pretty=format:'%H|%ad|%s|%b' --date=iso -- <path> per repo, or across all repos under ~/wrkspc/*/ when the user asks something cross-repo ("qué hice esta semana"). Parse into hash/date/title/body. Filter with --since/--grep/--author instead of pulling full history and filtering client-side.

Creating a commit

Follow this repo's existing commit style (check git log -5 first) and:

• Never add a Co-Authored-By: Claude trailer — see standing preference.
• Stage explicit files, never git add -A/git add . blind.
• Title: imperative, concise. Body only when the "why" isn't obvious from

the diff.

• Run git status/git diff --staged before committing to confirm

what's actually going in.

• Never commit without the user's explicit ask (standing rule — see

CLAUDE.md git safety protocol).

What NOT to do

• Don't build a separate SQLite catalog for this — git already indexes

everything git log needs, adding a DB would just be a stale mirror to keep in sync for no benefit.

• Don't push as part of this skill unless the user separately asks —

tracking/creating a commit is not the same as pushing it.
