Periodic Retrospect

Forward motion hides its own mistakes. Interrupt it on a schedule.

Check

  1. Repeated pattern — am I looping one failure family (the same broken approach, the easy path) more than once?
  2. Forgotten — rescan recent steps for dropped threads, half-finished sub-tasks, and unanswered requests.
  3. Uncaptured — did I surface a finding, blocker, or result and not record it? Record it now.
  4. Texture — has the work been thin and mechanical for a sustained stretch? That is a signal to move toward the higher-stake work.
  5. Bird's-eye — is my local step still aligned with where the real value is, or have I optimized a corner that does not matter?

When

On a stall, and at intervals regardless of whether anything feels wrong — the point is to catch what does not announce itself.
